I created this series during my July 2017 artist residency at the Gullkistan Center for Creativity in Laugarvatn, Iceland.  The works were heavily inspired by volcanic landforms throughout the country.

The enlargements of this island are divided into two groups, one zooming in on the dry western side (culminating in a view of the "Candle Cactus Lodge") and the other on the wet eastern side (culminating in a view of the "Fern Pavilions").

These excerpts from Saucer Island: A Field Guide (of course also imaginary) provide a detailed description of the island's geography.
